Roles
Learning experience design, agile coach
I joined a volunteer scrum group with DESIGNxHUMANITY (DxH) with the goal of designing training to empower BIPOC in conversations about race. Our needs analysis led us to scope the Phase 1 training to include mobile training on active listening in difficult conversations about race.
In my role as agile coach, I mentored aspiring instructional designers by introducing them to instructional design processes and best practices. We worked in Miro to create learner personas and an action map. We also used Cathy Moore’s Project Focus Doc for our task analysis (see sample).
DxH had asked us to follow a branding guide and template for mobile training. So I used their materials to create a storyboard template for each volunteer on my team to copy and draft their assigned module. This made the development and review process much easier and resulted in a consistent look-and-feel across everyone’s modules.
Although our volunteer group didn’t publish our course during the designated time period, we were pleased with our progress and the aspiring LXDs came away feeling they had gained valuable skills and experience.
